Cognition of Parameters' Role on Vertical Control Device for Aerodynamic Performances of Aircraft Using Visual Data Mining
Abstract
A novel concept to place the vertical airfoil device as control surface has been proposed so as to improve the aerodynamic performance of aircraft. Wind tunnel experiment has been implemented in order to obtain aerodynamic database regarding vertical control device. Furthermore, a self-organizing map as data mining has been performed for the experimental data in order to qualitatively elucidate the correlations among the aerodynamic performances and the design parameters. Consequently, it has been revealed the design information regarding the intimate correlations. Moreover, an essential sweet spot has been discovered to improve the aerodynamic performances.
