Interval uncertainty analysis of wave propagation constants in piezoelectric shunting acoustic metamaterials

Abstract


This document present a method for the uncertainty analysis of piezoelectric shunting acoustic metamaterials (PSAMs) based on the interval perturbation finite element method (IP-FEM). Using the first order Taylor expansion technique and perturbation method, the physical response of PSAMs is expressed as a linear function of interval parameters. The upper and lower bounds of physical response can be calculated by utilizing the linear relationship between physical response and parameters. Due to the significant changes in the physical response of PSAMs caused by small changes in material parameters, the sub interval perturbation finite element method (SIP-FEM) is introduced to divide the interval into small intervals for uncertainty analysis. Three different examples of shunting circuits were analyzed to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the interval perturbation method, which was validated using Monte Carlo method (MCM).
