Radial vibration analysis of composite piezoelectric transducers resting on elastic supports
Last modified: 2023-07-17
Abstract
Piezoelectric transducers have been widely used in hydro-acoustic engineering and ultrasonic testing. Elastodynamic solution is obtained for a composite piezoelectric ring transducer in radial vibration. The transducer is composed of piezoelectric and elastic layers and is rested on the elastic supports at the internal and external surfaces. In the cylindrical coordinate system, the general solution is obtained in terms of the Bessel functions. The characteristic equations for the resonant and anti-resonant frequencies are developed. Numerical results are depicted graphically to illustrate the effect of material properties and the stiffness of the elastic foundation on the radial vibration behaviors, such as resonant and anti-resonant frequencies, model shape and effective electromechanical coupling factor etc.
