Abstract

This talk reviews the state-of-the-art and challenges of nano-carbon based composites. It has been well recognized that the quantitative characterization of interfacial properties, the construction of hierarchical structures, and the integration of structural and functional performances are the key scientific issues which promote their development and applications. This talk introduces a methodology of high-throughput experimental and statistical analysis of the interface mechanics of carbon nanomaterials, which achieves accurate measurement of the shear strength of graphene interface. The design criterion of strain transfer factor is proposed to construct hierarchically structured interface, by which the strain transfer efficiency is much promoted. Based on the integrative absorbing mechanisms of materials and microstructures, the specific absorption efficiency is much enhanced of nano-carbon based composites. The achieved ultra-black materials serving in extreme environment are applied to space satellites, which is of help to improve the capability to detect dark and weak targets.
