Abstract

With the rapid development of the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic (SPH) method and modeling technique, multi-disciplinary problems have been investigated quantitively which accelerates the growing progress of both science and engineering. In this talk, we present our recent applications in different areas including geological disaster predictions, ocean engineering, microbiology, and impact engineering with the SPH method. Processes, like the submarine debrides flow, landslides-generated waves, wave-structure interaction, bacterial biofilm deformation and detachment in microfluid channel, and high-velocity impact of CFRP plates, etc are investigated numerically and presented. Moreover, the adopted GPU-acceleration technique allows us to solve the three-dimensional multi-phase multi-material problems efficiently, ensuring that problems with significant 3D effects can be predicted more accurately compared to using two-dimensional SPH models.
