Abstract

The mixed-mode properties in interface cracks play an important role in their delamination fracture and also increase the difficulty of fracture predictions. In this study, the interface delamination considering mixed-mode loading condition is analyzed using the peridynamic model. The new mixed-mode peridynamic bond failure model is employed to capture the interface fracture behaviors, in which the angle-dependent formations of critical stretch (CS) or critical energy density (CED) are utilized for mixed-mode interface bonds failure prediction. The mixed-mode interface fracture test of asymmetric double cantilevered beams (ADCB) is investigated with the presented peridynamic model, and the fracture characteristics of crack path, load-displacement curve and critical load are predicted and compared to the available standard solutions. The results show that the proposed peridynamic bond failure model can successfully capture mixed-mode fracture behaviors of interface fracture.
