Abstract

GSM-CFD is a newly developed CFD solver for general compressible
and incompressible problems. The first- and second order
derivatives for flow variables are approximated using gradient
smoothing operation, which is more robust to mesh distortion.
Extensive applications have shown that the GSM-CFD
solver is a competitive alternative to the convention finite
volume method. In this research, the agglomeration multigrid method is
incorporated to the GSM-CFD solver to further improve the
numerical efficiency. The gradients at nodes of irregular
agglomerated coarse mesh are also approximated on newly
constructed node-based gradient smoothing domains. The
transonic NACA 0012 airfoil is used as the numerical
example to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
